The Prose Masters is a partnership of two professional translators based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Karin and Sarah have more than 30 years' experience in the translation industry between them and university level translation qualifications.

 

​Karin is a native Swedish speaker whose working languages are English, Dutch and Italian.

 

Sarah is a native English speaker whose working languages are French, Russian and Swedish.​​

 

We have lived and worked or studied in countries where these languages are spoken, giving us an invaluable insight into the local culture.

 

Our professional experience includes working in-house for translation agencies, on-site as external service providers - Sarah for a bank and Karin for a tech company - and as freelance translators translating a wide range of texts for both agencies and direct clients. This has given us knowledge of every aspect of the translation industry and of the challenges facing companies as they try to get their translation needs met.​

 

We are both language enthusiasts, with bookshelves full of dictionaries, non-fiction books and foreign language novels, and we have always enjoyed working with the written word.
